Kai had the hiccups.

Kai (to Keegan): Don't sing, Keegan. I have the hiccups and the hiccups hate that. If you sing, I will have hiccuping all day.

I tried to call my mother the other day and it was just Keegan and I in the car.
Me (leaving a message for my mother): Hello? Helloooooo? (like on City Slickers) Is anybody home?
Keegan: Yes.
Last night, I was putting the boys to bed. Keegan was yelling, "SEE! SEE! SEE!"

I wasn't absolutely sure what he meant (although, I had turned out the lights and I was thinking he wanted them back on so he could see his books that he slept with) so I asked Kai (because Kai usually knows what Keegan is trying to say.)

Me: Kai, what is your brother saying?
Kai: Mommy, Keegan talks "Baby English" so that is why you cannot hear him.
Me: Well, what is he saying then?
Kai: I don't know, Mommy. Keegan is talking "Baby English."
I was typing (probably on FB) this morning and Kai was sitting next to me.

Kai: Mommy, when you do that, it looks like your fingers are dancing.

Last week, I invited Steve, my running partner, in for some hot chocolate after his run. I had already run on the treadmill and I couldn't meet him outside to run down the parkway because there were no other adults home to watch the kids... and I wasn't taking them with me on my run.

Anyway, I told Kai that Steve was coming for a hot chocolate.
Me: Do you remember Steve? He ran the race with me on Thanksgiving morning.
Kai: Yes... Steve! (long pause) Mommy, when you run that race, you didn't get a trophy.
Me: No. No, Mommy didn't get a trophy... and she won't get one for her next race either.
Yesterday (Christmas Eve), the kids were messing around with the presents under the tree. Chris' mom yelled, "Everyone out! Out! No children allowed in the living room! Everyone out!"

Kai: Grandma, the Elf just heard you yell at me.
(long pause)
Kai: I'm gonna rip your face off.

Me: Kai, stop running, please.
Kai: (stops on the steps) Want me to press the "slow down" button?
Me: Yes.
Kai: K. Mommy, when I go in here (the kitchen), you say 'Why is it taking Kai so long?', okay? You say that.

Kai looked at me during dinner tonight and he said, "Mommy, I love sugar."
Me: You do?
Kai: Yes. I love food and sugar. Sugar is candy.

Kai: I love food and candy.
